When most people hear the word “improv” they think of the long-running TV Show “Whose Line is it Anyway?” A fantastic series of shows where “everything’s made up and the points don’t matter.” Despite what you may think, though, improv comedy requires practice, and our team gets together regularly to rehearse, play games and hone their skills.
The Hub City Theatre Co Improv team has been making stuff up around Jackson since 2022. And one of the coolest things about watching an improv comedy show is no two shows are ever the same. Each performance is a one-of-a-kind experience, where prompts from the audience are used to create a scene.
This hilarious group of performers are still regular people, though. Ashley Davis, Jerry Emmons, Brandyn Graves, Oliver Koons, Rachel Irwin, Alex Russell and Bethany Welborn are West Tennessee residents who, after putting their pants on one leg at a time, just happen to also enjoy getting up in front of people with no idea what’s about to happen (and looking a little silly while doing it.)
This weekend, Friday May 2nd and Saturday May 3rd, the HCTC Improv Team will take the stage once again at the Carnegie in downtown Jackson.
You literally never know what you’re going to get at an improv show. So get your tickets at hubcitytheatreco.com/tickets, and don’t miss this show!
